Castello di Reschio is a beautifully restored 1000 year old castle just over the border of Tuscany into Umbria. It is a little bit of hike from the B&B (~1 hour drive) but it is a great spot to explore if you are looking for a unique experience. As you approach the estate, there is a security gate where you are checked in (reservations are a must) before driving up the hill to the castle.
The restaurant in the hotel has views of the valley and offers a more unique and refreshing take on Italian cuisine. The menu often changes but delivers everything from fish, to steak, to risotto and much more. Dinners can be a little pricey, especially if ordering from the exquisite wine menu however the ambiance and attention to detail is worth the price and drive. Go early to enjoy and aperitivo in the central courtyard before heading into dinner. The bar downstairs also offers a beautifully decorated sitting area that feels like you are sitting in a greenhouse and a piano for late night music.
