A lot of people want to know the best places to eat in some of the more touristy towns like Arezzo in effort to avoid a mediocre, overly priced menu of food. Or on the flip, they are looking for something a little different in terms of ambiance (upscale or more modern vibe), artisan cocktails (other than a spritz), or a slight change in menu options because perhaps they have had their fair share of pici al ragu, tagliata, & bruschetta. Don't get me wrong, these dishes are the delicious specialties of Tuscany but every now and again you might be craving something a little different.
Here are my top favorite spots in Arezzo (Centro storico).
The Dirty Rat - Great bar to grab a coffee or cocktail. No outside seating but the bar has great ambiance. They make everything from traditional spritz to margaritas, martinis, and much more. @dirty_rat_arezzo
La Clandestina - A modern hipster vibe bar with couches and lounge chairs for seating (or tables if you are in a larger group), music, and low lighting. They have a great artisan cocktail menu filled with their own concoctions. The apericena options (small bites) will catch you by surprise as its very impressive. It's much more than the standard chips and nuts.
Ristorante LaPieve - This restaurant is great for lunch of dinner although its more of a dinner spot. You will want reservations as it is small and fills up fast. It has a great atmosphere mixing the old and new. The wine menu is top notch and the pastas are everything you want and more. You might also be able to find carbonara pasta which normally you only find in Rome and it does not disappoint. @ristorante_lapieve_arezzo
Le Chiavi D'Oro - This is a great option if you are looking for a more upscale restaurant in Centro storico of Arezzo. It has outdoor seating and indoor seating. The menu offerings are slightly different than what you might normally see in other Tuscan restaurants. Open for lunch and dinner. @ristorantelechiavidoro
Chiantineria - This is a more casual option closer to the grand piazza and perfect for lunch. You can order anything from a charcuterie board to soups, pastas, or meat dishes. They also have local Tuscan product you can buy which makes for great gifts. @chiantineria
O'Scugnizzo - Casual pizza option but you will likely need a reservation as it was recently named one of the top 50 pizzerias in the world. The style of pizza is more Napoli style / wood fired oven with a fluffy bubbly crust. https://www.50toppizza.it/referenza/o-scugnizzo-2/ @oscugnizzo_pizzeria
